  • QDP Notice

The following was sent to all QDP clients on July 27th, 2006.

    --------
    Dear QDP Subscriber:

As was previously announced, eSignal has purchased Quote.com and its properties from Lycos, Inc. Since that time, we have been working toward improving the Quote.com product lines by integrating the strengths of the eSignal network architecture and QCharts’ powerful application interface. This integration will be released with QCharts 6.0, currently scheduled for release in the fall of 2006.

Another aspect to these changes is the elimination of duplicate products. With the release of QCharts 6.0, the current Continuum data network will be overlapping the same functionality as the eSignal network. Because of this, we will be discontinuing the Continuum server farm. The exact date the Continuum network will no longer be available has not yet been determined.

To limit the number of 3rd party applications affected by this change, we are discontinuing the QDP service as of October 31, 2006. This means that new applications can no longer be developed and registered using the QReg application. Some of our QDP subscribers are also using their subscription for streaming data through QCharts. So, to minimize any service disruption, we are transferring all QDP subscribers to regular QCharts accounts ($95/mo.).

We understand that many of our QDP subscribers have developed applications using the QDP API, which will continue to run for as long as the Continuum data network remains. We have compared the list of QDP subscribers with that of eSignal’s 3rd party software partners and have found that many have already developed a version of their product(s) capable of receiving data from one of eSignal’s top-quality APIs.

If you HAVE an eSignal version of your application, we recommend that you communicate with your clients that, with the release of QCharts 6.0, they can use their QCharts accounts with the eSignal version of your software. Please note that, if your application uses some of Continuum’s unique features (such as Hot Lists, Breadthalizer symbols, and so forth), the eSignal network does not currently support those features.

If you DO NOT HAVE an eSignal version of your application, we recommend that you look into one of the eSignal APIs available for your ongoing development needs. For more information, please visit: http://www.esignal.com/hubs/development.asp. If you have any questions about these APIs, please email: [email protected] and include the words “QDP Discontinuance” in the subject line.

If you have any questions or comments about the discontinuation of QDP, please email: [email protected].

    Sincerely,
    QCharts Product Management
    Regards,
    Jay F.
    Product Manager
