  • Dual Core cpu for 6.0.x

Has anyone run 6.0.x on a dual core machine vs a single and noticed any performance improvement? I've posted to Esignal asking if 6.0 is multi-threaded but have not received a reply.

    momamia908,

I am willing to bet you will see significant improvement in the responsiveness of the latest build, 6.0.1.1. Please give it a try.

QCharts is multi-threaded. A description of just how this works can become lengthy, so let me skip most of it.

Some of the changes in 6.0.1.1 fixed problems with how two threads interact. When threads read/write the same data in an uncoordinated manner, the result may be either a crash, a deadlock, or something in between (unresponsiveness). This is happening in earlier builds.

Certainly, adding CPU/memory will always help.

QCharts 6.1 is an opportunity to cut out a lot of code and speed up what's left.

Thanks very much for your commitment and interest,

    = Mike Condra
