Announcement: QCharts News Applet, Facelift Coming

Hello all,

Just a brief announcement that as part of the sc8 network move, we will be using a new news applet for QCharts starting next week. This is based on the new LiveCharts program, and allows for some additional search capabilities beyond searching just for symbols.

Since the new applet uses newer Java mechanisms, we are recommending that users of the QCharts news viewer head over to http://www.java.com to ensure that they have the latest version of Java installed and to avoid any interruption in news services.

As a further note on this subject, it has been found that some older installations of QCharts 5.x versions carried an outdated registry entries. If you are using a version older than 5.1.0.22 and you use the Streaming Headlines Viewer, then in order to continue using this feature, you will need to either download 5.1.0.22 (recommended) or update your QCharts registry entry using .reg]this registry file (involves more risk; see below.)

Please note that with any registry change, one should take precautions when editing this area of the Windows Operating System. We recommend backing up your registry by clicking on Start --> Run, type in regedit, click on OK, and then finally click on File --> Export.
