  • Custom symbol updates only once!

In a Quote Sheet, if I type the custom symbol

$COMPQ / $SPX (ratio of Nasdaq Composite to S&P 500) then the symbol appears in the Quote Sheet symbol column as $COMPQ,$SPX (it changes?)

Of note, all the other fields in the Quote Sheet do not reflect data for the symbol ( (e.g. Last, Net, etc.).

However, as a tease, a linked daily chart shows the correct custom symbol syntax in the chart header
    INDEX:$COMPQ / INDEX:$SPX
AND does reflect the ratio data

Unfortunately, if I click back on the symbol in the Quote Sheet (which changed as described above) then the linked daily chart header changes to INDEX:$COMPQ,D and the chart reflects only the Nasdaq Composite data (no longer the ratio data)...

This is disappointing... therefore, I was wondering if anyone knows of a workaround to make a custom symbol work correctly in all respects? If not, please add this as a requested feature to the QCharts suggestion box.

    Thanks!

    Hey btk_1,

Try enclosing the expression with parens when entering into quotesheet.

    ($COMPQ / $SPX)

This will produce the correct chart when subsequently clickin' on the entry in the quotesheet.
However, there won't be any Last/Net/Open/High/etc field values in the quotesheet or chart snapshot window.

      Hi Larry,

Thanks for the workaround... as you say, placing the expression in parens results in a custom symbol (on a Quote Sheet)... that can be clicked to update a linked chart which will show the latest custom symbol data.

Making the field values in the Quote Sheet and Chart Snapshot window reflect the custom symbol data is an improvement that should be added to the QCharts suggestion box.

      Thanks for your assistance!

        Okeydokie btk_1.
        You're welcome.

        Hey Jay,
Could ya add the "fields last/net/etc not displaying" issue to the bug or wish list? Thanks.
