  • DOW and Transports sym

in the old version 5.1 version has stopped working
today. Anyone know what the new symbol is?

Transitioning to versions 6, but symbols $INDU and $TRANS
    do not work on 5.1.

New version 6 has crashed repeatly, getting a "basic run time error", will post the exact error next time it happens.

Also the "Fib time Interval" causes a complete work space lock
up when used, locks up on "save". When trying to reopen the
workspace the chart windows open but do not fill with data.

The error is 1. Drawing tool type 0 (deleted): 1 instance(unrecognized).

Resultings in having to rebuild the entire work space. So have
stopped using the "Fib Time" tool.

Data has been pretty rocky during this period of market turmoil.

    Hope it gets better!

    Any suggestions appreciated.

YM symbol that worked "delayed" in version 5 does not work at all in version 6. Any suggestions?

    Thanks, Z

      Hi Larry,

Thanks for the response, those sym. worked until today.
But now the fields are blank, and no chart draws. Have tried
all the fixes that have worked in the past. But nothing brings them
      in.

Side note, have used end of day Q Collector for years, INDEX:INDU data stopped in August for some reason.

Neither one of these sym.s (YM) work in version 6, no doubt because
of subscription restrictions. Another fee from the almighty exchanges!

Any other ideas appreciated, as always.
      Thanks Larry

        ztrader,

Hmmm...INDU and TRAN (not TRANS) working for me in 5.1.0.21.

Are you just looking at what was in an existing entry in a quotesheet?
If so, type into the Symbol box
        INDEX:INDU
        INDEX:TRAN

If no joy there, then try typing into the symbol box...
DJI (prefix with INDEX: -Can't do that in a post cuz gives a Smiley <grin>
        DJT
These are the actual "new" syms for these indexes.
They have been mapped to INDU and TRAN in the CompSyms2.inf "merge" file.
If these syms work, the question is why isn't CompSyms2.inf working for you.

        Regarding QCollector...
You will have to start using
        DJI
        DJT
I don't think QCollector uses the file CompSyms2 that has now mapped
INDU to DJI and TRAN to DJT.

For curiosities sake, click in 5.1 Help>View QCharts Directory.
Do you have a CompSyms.UNF by any chance?
Or a CompSyms.ZNF that has INDU or TRAN statements in it?

        Regarding YM....
Check your Account Maintenance and see if you are subscribed to...

          Symbol fix

          Hi Larry,

Thanks, that fixed the 5x feed, will give the EOD Q Collector a try after market.

Noticed the sym.s (INDEXS) folder in 5x, and did not want to fool with it during mkt. hours. They did contain the old sym. version.

          Thanks again,
          Z

            You're welcome, Z.

The Index folder is out of date. If one wants a current set of syms that constitute any given index, I would go to the "owner" website.

The YM (Dow eminis originate from NYBOT, instead of CME as do the S&P and Nasdaq eminis. Is this ANOTHER separate futures package which must be purchased?

Actually YM originates from the CBOT and requires a subscription to the CBOT Mini Futures package for real time data or to the Delayed US Futures package for delayed data
In this page of the Symbol Guide you can find the list of symbols included in the CBOT Mini Futures package. Also in that page are a link to the Exchange Fee Pricing and Account Maintenace pages
                Hope this helps
                Alex

Thanks much for the correction. Do you know of any way to re-create some of the expressions we were able to use in 5.1, L-like QC:UPVOL.NQ /QCNVOL.NQ ?

                    Hey saikman

6.0 connects to both eSignal network servers and 5.1 Continuum servers. Well, unless running in special eSignal server only mode. (F2 option at login). The "QC" syms are still coming from the 5.1 Continuum servers when running 6.0.

There is a format difference to get the QC: Breadthalyzer syms in 6.0.
The syms require a "-qc" suffix.

                    UPVOL-QC

For expressions, a <space> is required both before and after the operator.
                    UPVOL-QC<space>-<space>DNVOL-QC
                    UPVOL-QC - DNVOL-QC

Parens ( ) required if entering into quotesheet.

                    Here's a screenshot from 6.0.2

[Edit...never mind the comment to Jay. It works in 6.0.3.1324. I had a mismatch of DM versions running]
Jay, looks like the expressions don't chart in 6.0.3

                      F2 and the learning curve

LM- as ususal you have shortened many learning curves for QCharts users over the years; and this post is no exception. I attach a screenshot of my F2 menu. I have tried the expression with the "Make Esignal the primary data field" on, as well as off; both with no luck. I am getting more comfortable with 6.0, but I sure miss some of the 5.1 features.

Do you have any suggestions regarding this startup? Thanks.

                        saikman,

                        Sorry for delay in response.

Your F2 display looks OK. The first line has to have both boxes checked to gain access to the 5.1 servers where the Breadthalizers are. They won't have all the 5.1 breadth stuff working on the eSignal servers until 6.1, per current comments from the PTB.

Attached is an animated .GIF. Give it another try doing something like the animation, entering upvol and dnvol first to make sure you're hooked up ok and getting that data at least.

fwiw, the eSignal servers do have a certain number of "breadth" syms native to eSignal.
                        Here's the link...

These are the breadth syms I extracted once upon a time from all the Index syms at the above link. Excuse the lousy formatting.

Note: this post is regarding 6.0.2. After my previous post where I said it's working in 6.0.3.1324, I discovered some flakeyness twix entering in symbol box vs trying to get the expression in quotesheet. Looks like one can ge the "QC" expressions working via a manual type into symbol box using the "QC:" prefix (in addition to the -QC suffix), but there are issues trying to get the sucka to work in a quotesheet. Another subject, another time.
