Saving worksheet on a network device

Hello,

i am running a little network at home using my Mac as server to have timemachine for backups.

On my Qcharts computer (Win XP) I connected the server using smb. Saving files is not issue with all programs except when I save my QCharts worksheet it takes 2-5 min (worksheet size 600kB).

I am using Qcharts 6.0.3.1613

Any ideas?

Are you connecting the two machines over a wireless network? I've noticed some squirrely-ness with large file copies to a SMB share over WiFi. I'd try using a direct ethernet connection for giggles. If that's not it, you may need to tweak the SMB transfer block size. Could also be anti-virus software doing a deep scan of all file share transfers - so you might try disabling AV on the XP box to see if that's it.

If you save the file locally, then copy it manually how long does it take?

if I save the file and copy it then it is quick.
it is just slow when saved directly.

when saving i.e. an excel file directly on the server then it is quick as well.

only qcharts seems to slow it down...
