  • US $ spot symbol formerly DXY.X

Hi I have tried the symbol lookup to find the US dollar spot index with no success, DXY in 99% of the world but not on QCharts. DXY.X used to work but not since late 2008. I have tried DX #F, DX A0 but intra-day data is for one hour only from 8:00 to 8:50. Is there a symbol for the plain old DYX spot dollar? I am using 6.1 and 5.1.

    thanks donv

    PS
Symbol lookup most of the time fails me..it doesn't seem to be current or maintained regularly and at least for me it is not very intuitive. The KB link from QC help describes and demos a completely different interface than what is in QCharts which is the Quote.com website lookup. Unfortunately the majority of symbols it brings up for US dollar index and many others don't work in QC. In addition I get script errors and usually a crash report and shutdown eventually.

    Sorry just venting

How about DX A0 (DXspaceAzero) on 6.x.
BUT - you HAVE to make sure you're sub'd to ICE Futures Indicies (only) - it's free - but you have to check the box and then log out / log back in to get the data.

DX A0 works intraday on my 6.0.3.1613 fine. I get full intraday charts on it.

    Symbol (and other links) help:

    Hope that helps.

      Thanks Bill

I did what you said then shutdown QC and restarted but still no full intra day data maybe it will take awhile before it kicks in?

        It shouldn't take long.
What exact version of QCharts are you on?
Please click Help then About and let me know all the digits - like 6.0.3.1550 or 6.0.1.2 or whatever.

6.0.3.1413, I also have 6.0.3.1613 but don't use it much because freeze ups seem to be more frequent.

Well! that may be the issue because I just tried 1613 with ICIX A0 and it gives me intra day data, ICIX #F works now too. Now if I could get intra day for Nikkei 225 and Shanghai SSE composite I would be happy but not likely without paying for the futures.INDEX:$NI225-IDX works but only with daily bars and I'm not sure if it's updating for current trading?

            OK - excellent.....progress.

            Now - here's what I'd recommend:
Do a complete scrub of all QCharts on your computer. I wrote a procedure that seems to work pretty good. BE SURE and save your workspaces and any other layouts or whatever if they are in the QCharts install folder. The details are here:

Then, after you've done that - then re-install 6.0.3.1613 and see if it runs better.

Also worth mentioning - you really do need at least a dual core box to run v6 - the P4 series of processor isn't going to get it anymore. What is inside the computer you're running QCharts on?

            RE: Nikkei and Shanghai -
Nikkei 225 is $NI225-NKI and you'll need to sub to Nikkei Indices for $5/mo.
Shanghai should be $000001-SHG and you'll need a sub to the Shanghai Stock Exchange for $27/mo.
(I think I'm right on these)
All of this should be available through your Acct Maintenance at the link provided previously.

Bill I will do what you say, I keep all my workspaces etc. in a separate master QC folder so QC installs are very easy.

What I have is a AMD athlon 64 3000, 2GB ram, XP pro SP 2, not the best for QC I know... according to task manager, memory issues with QC seem to be more common than CPU? I will do the scrub and re install and see what happens.

Thanks for info on Asian stuff.

Bill a couple questions...I would like to keep the 1413 and 5.1 versions of QC, they are in separate directories from 1613. Second should I save the "user" file in QC to restore custom settings?
