Is there a way to generate alerts not using price as the factor. For example, I use ADX (directional indicators)...when the +DI/-DI cross, I would like to be alerted.

That's not currently available in QCharts. If you click "Alerts" and then "Add Alert" and click the "Field" dropdown - you'll see all of the fields that you can alert on - but no studies are included in there. -
