  • Data Window Placement

I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this, but when I log on and my charts come up, my data window is moved over to the right-hand side of my charts. I have to move them back on all my charts everytime.

This is a bit petty and minor, but if there is a setting that will eliminate this need, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey buck,

    I haven't experienced what you're describing.
The positioning of the cursor data window (CDW) should be the same from start to start.
I know this is a silly question, but after repositioning the CDWs to desired location, you did save the workspace...yes?

In View>Preferences>Workspaces tab...turn ON "Show workspace full path on QCharts title".
When you have positioned the CDWs where you want them, do File>Save Workspace As
Make sure the QCharts title bar is showing the path you wished for the save.

Then reload the workspace from File>MostRecentlyUsed list.
The workspace just saved should be the 1st workspace in the list.

Is the newly loaded workspace the same as the one you just saved, i.e. the CDWs are positioned correctly?

What you are seeing was an early bug in the QC6 Beta testing. It was corrected quite some time ago.

That being said, however, in the last two releases, my Data Window does indeed move from shutdown (with full save) to start-up. It doesn't jump across the page like before, but it doesn't remain in the same position as when the workspace was closed.

I agree with buckweb56, not an huge issue (like losing the first hour of candles, for instance), but, something that requires every chart to be reset with every opening of the workspace.

      See pic.

        CK,

I wasn't seeing what you reported cuz I have a different style of handling CDWs.
I now see what you're reporting using your example.

In the meantime, till they put it back to working the way it did in 6.0.3, here's a little tip for not having to manually readjust the CDWs on restart.

After the workspace has loaded...with the CDWs popped out from where you left them...
Do File>and reload from MostRecentUsed list.
They will go back to the position as was the state with the last save of the wksp.
Assuming you have a few seconds of time set in Prefs>Connection tab>Cache Times, and you do the MRU reload within the cache time frame, no additional data download will be incurred. The reload will be in the blink of an eye.

In other words, you can take your CDW and shove it (aside) and keep it shoved with a MRU reload.
