I am seeing this bug now for the first time. I am on 1757. I have tried all the tricks (toggling the DM setting button per Bill, even stopping and restarting DM while QC running and restarting QCharts 5 or 6 times this morning.) Nothing is getting me logged on at all.

It is not a firewall problem. I disabled the firewall just to be sure (QC has always been allowed anyway).

    How frustrating.

Rebooted the computer and DM entitled me on the first try.

Although I am able to use QC at least for now, I would like to strongly encourage eSignal folks to track down this bug and get it resolved. It is very disconcerting from a software quality perspective to have to jump through hoops just to get the program started and insert all sorts of work-arounds.

Note that stopping and restarting DM did not work for me. I do not know if rebooting the computer worked, but QC started after the second warm reboot of the day (the first reboot happens automatically around 4:30-5am after the backup runs at 4am.) I tried to start QC before doing anything else on the computer this morning so essentially after a fresh reboot, the "not entitled" bug hit me. So I cannot say that rebooting solves the problem but since this is the first time I have seen the bug, perhaps it minimizes the problem since my computer reboots every morning before 5am.

Yeah, this one is getting pretty annoying for a product that's costing me $170/month.

          Tom,

When you saw the issue today, did you happen to grab a screenshot? If not, going from memory, what were the exact symptoms you saw? Was QCharts showing a red Entitled icon and not proceeding past that step or was the Entitled Green and the connection process was stuck on a different part? Any details you saw on the status bar would be quite helpful.

If other users are seeing this and are stuck as well, please do reply on this thread too.

While the problem is happening, you can also contact our technical support department to troubleshoot this issue live with a tech.
          Regards,
          Jay F.

The 1757 version of QCharts does have the resolution to the problem that was created when the Data Manager Servers were first upgraded. That problem is understood by our network engineering and software developers.

All of the Data Managers Servers that QCharts connect to have the upgraded version and results should be fairly consistent.

There are issues that can cause similar types of results, most often related to either the client side DM not connecting (icon in red in system tray) and software conflicts, which can happen to any program connecting like eSignal. Here are a couple of KB articles for these types of issues:

            Software Conflicts

            Application Not Connecting to DM

For ongoing problems with connecting while running version 1757 it's probably best to Contact Technical Support

              Jay,
Fixing some bugs will make you tear your hair out. I would rather not see you go bald again. ;-))

This is a red entitled and sometimes the signal manager gives you a not listening. My cure is during the week not to turn my box off. As near as I can tell this is looks like a handshake issue of some sort. My xp box is probably perfect for you to come in remotely and try to get it to work. Just dont use my signal access or it will kick off my s7 box. If you want to do it call me at 858 675 8286

              Regards
              Ron

                Hi Jay,

No screenshot, sorry. Will capture what I can if this happens again but there isn't that much to capture. Everything appeared normal as I logged on. Green lit DM icon in taskbar. Red Entitled identifier in QC lower right status bar; others green (except Mkt Depth which I don't subscribe to so that is expected). Nothing at all on QC workspace (no charts, no quotesheets, not even empty window frames... just nothing at all.)

In DM, Reception OK. Password OK. eSignal Datamanager unable to listen (or something to that effect.)

Tried Bill's method of changing to Enterprise Server and then back to eSignal CM. No cigar. Tried closing DM while QC running. No good either. Tried closing and restarting QC and DM 8 or so times with no good result so decided to boot the computer. That seemed to work.

1757 is QC version. 10.5 Build 412 08/24/2009 (cm) is DM version. Fresh install after uninstalling/deleting old versions and clearing registry keys. It had been working fine up to today. Nothing new installed on computer and QC has been playing well with existing apps for the longest time. Firewalls open to QC apps. Reboot nightly at 4:30-5am (whenever backup program finishes.)

                Thanks for the follow-up.

                Tom

So this AM I saw the entitled problem as usual (sigh) and was in the process of getting a screen capture when it apparently fixed itself.

I *think* the DM indicator went from green to red, then the entitled went green... then after some "standby", everything went green and came online. The whole process took about 45 seconds. I've never had that much patience before and usually restart QC before then.

Pretty consistent pattern here, saw same thing again this AM.

Starting QC, the DM icon in the tray is green. Status is all green, except entitled which is red (and market depth).

After 39 seconds, the PWD and DM status go red briefly (the DM icon in the tray stays green)... then entitled goes green along with PWD and DM. The "standby" box pops up for a few seconds... then finally online.

So.... anyone who is still seeing the entitled problem when starting QC should try just waiting 40-45 seconds to see if it fixes itself.

For the past two days I have had no problem getting entitled first time logging on. Nothing changed on my computer that I can tell. Still rebooting every night.

Lugz problem sounds exactly like the one I had, but I don't think I gave it 45 seconds to resolve itself. As mentioned, I tried a few things but QC seemed to be stubbornly not entitling until I rebooted the PC again. By the way, still happily on XP Pro with all updates (SP3).

This morning my s7 box didnt work so i went to my xp box. I got to struggle with the Red Entitled and doing the process with the data manager helped. After my sys 7 box was fixed as I ran it ...all was smothe as silk .

I think the problem we may still be having is related to our boxes. I have been told that Chrome may be having problems interfacing with other tech on my xp box and may be causing the slow down.

As I get time next month I can look into what is slowing my xp box but if you have recently installed chrome and find difficulties ...this may be part of the problem.

                        Regards
                        Ron
