  • Symbols for weekly options?

Does QCharts have symbols and data for the so-called weekly options that trade for some active stocks?

For example, every Thursday, Apple creates a weekly call that expires on the following Friday.

Currently, the QCharts symbol for the monthly Apple call that expires on 1/20/2012 with a $420 strike price is O:AAPL 12A420.00 (where the "A" represents January expiration).

What about the weekly calls that expire on 1/6/2012 and 1/13/2012?

At Fidelity, for example, the trading symbol for the 1/13/2012 $420 call is -AAPL120113C420, which contains the exact expiration date and "C" for Call.

    weekly options

Yes QCharts gets data for weekly options. If you open an option chain for AAPL for this example you will see that for some strikes there are two identicle rows, but in the symbol field one symbol is O:AAPL 12A345.00 and the other symbol is O:AAPL 12A345.00D13.

The D13 in the second symbol shows that this is a daily option that expires on the 13th of the current month. Hope that helps
    Thank you,
