  • guru's PDA/Phone picks

Are you looking for a PDA/Phone with unlimited wireless service? Here are my top two picks.

The Samsung i700 with Verizon Wireless service. Call Verizon Wireless at (800) 256-4646 and ask for the unlimited Wireless Sync plan with Express Net for $49.99/month and if you get a phone plan the unlimited Wireless Sync plan with Express Net is ony $44.99/month.

The other pick is the Hitachi G1000 from SprintPCS, this PDA/Phone has a keyboard. Call SprintPCS at (888) 253-1315 and ask for the unlimited PCS Vision Professional Pack. The price will be $30/month for unlimited data. It is $30 because it is $15/month for PCS Vision and additional $15/month for Smart Devices with the Microsoft Pocket PC operating system. You will also have to have a phone plan.

I picked up the Samsung device myself. I am pretty happy with it so far. QuoTrek is great.

As a sidenote, the Verizon stores in my area did not have these in stock. What I had to do is call the number the guru mentioned and order it over the phone. It is shipped Fed Ex so you get it in 2 days. Someone has to be at the Residence/Locale to receive it, or you'll get an attempted delivery notice. Verizon requires this.

One last thing, they offered insurance and I took it.

      connected to IB

I had been trying to connect to interactive brokers with my Samsung and was not too successful. It turns out that with Pocket PC OS, you need to download a program called EzWAP which has the appropriate security protocols to login to Interactive Brokers. (The instructions point you in this direction but it was not clear, at least to me.)

To access my other broker, I don't have to use the EzWap program, I can use the native Internet Explorer Browser, which for them, works fine.

So I am happy, access to real time quotes and analysis via QuoTrek and the ability to access both my brokers on a portable device!!

        IB with PocketPC

EzWap is not required for to do a trade with IB, use your IE PocketPC and this link:
