    Build Information

    Scott,

With so many tries, I did end up using version 4081. I have not seen 4035. My original version was: 3721.

Regarless, it was a very frustrating experience. I don't understand why it works now, but it does.

    Mike

      Scott and termn8er,

I uninstalled the 4081 and installed the 4035 in place (few days ago)... And it works now!!! Strange!

I'm getting the same problem having installed all the TS and esignal updates.

As I track LSE stocks I guess I need the latest version of esignal as it is the only one to include LSE as a default stock exchange.

I've tried to dowload 5min data for indu as well, but still have the same problem.

          Hi Everyone,

did someone find a solution to this problem as I an experiencing the same thing.
I have the latest version of eSignal and the plugin (4081) running on Win XP. I have the same setup (except for its on Win2K) on a different computer which never misses a beat.
On the XP computer I can collect data in realtime, but when I try to download data I get nothing except for some occasional Day data. But no tick or 1 minute.
I have tried several uninstalls and reinstall of the plugin and running the Setup Wizard, with no change.

          Any suggestions appreciated,

          Ross

I have experienced identical problems in the past. My conclusion: NEVER install the latest versions immediatelly. I run Tradestation 2000i with Esignal realtime feed (build 7.1). As long as it works i will never change to the newer version.
Replace XP by windows 2000. XP is not so terribly good in my opinion.
Is it possible that XP keeps a lot of junk in his system after various installs and uninstalls? That could be an explanation as well.

FWIW, this very well could be the explanation for the problems you have been seeing. I do not use TS, but have had problems before with my registry having a number of invalid entries. (I use Windows XP) It was to the point where I could not see any of the machines on my home network. You may consider the Ace Utilities Registry cleaner. You can download the trial version and try it out. Here is the link

Steve, thanks for that suggestion. I hope the users having an issue on XP will try it out and see if that solves the problem.

This particular issue is a bit perplexing. We've had so many people upgrade succesfully yet we've had a good 10-12 users experience these severe problems. We have yet to discover the cause or the factors associated with these upgrade issues. When we start to gather the data for each user experiencing the problem, the downloading or connection problem suddenly goes away and the user is OK. As far as I can remember, no one solution has worked for everyone.

We have never been able to duplicate these problems in-house so we're still somewhat dependent on users giving us as much information as possible so we can isolate some sort of pattern.

byrdsong Can you try the utility Steve points to and let us know how it works? I didn't think TS handled International exchanges (like LSE) so you may want to double check that before leaving us. I certainly hope we can solve the problem so you can stay with eSignal.

                  Thanks.

I don't think it is an Esignal problem. To me it is more likely a problem on your own computer. Your operating system can become instable because of many different reasons; As there are: installing software to try it out and then afterwards deleting it; installing, uninstalling and reinstalling again. These kind of operations can cause big problems in your system by leaving parts of previous installations. This will confuse your system.

Try to clean up your registries.

I don't have any commercial connection with Esignal, but after 10 years as client i must say that 95% of the problems i had had nothing to do with Esignal, but with my own computer.

To me XP is good for people who never install anything or never change their configuration. If you change your hardware to much you risk that you have to reinstall XP completely or even worse that you will have to take a new licence. XP is protected in such a way that it causes by this protection other problems for the users.

The best registry cleaner i have ever seen:

It's frightening to see what he finds in your registry when he cleans it up.
You can try it for free for 30 days.
I found hundreds of illegal entries or orphans in my registry the first time i used it.

Thanks for your help Steve, but unfortunately the registry cleaner didn't help. (But it is a great little tool).

Dose someone have a link to an older version of the eSignal plugin, or can someone upload it to the forum? This is something that I have not tried yet as I didn't keep any of the older builds when my Win2K computer was running without problems.

The XP computer is new, with a clean install of everything including the operating system.
Is there any known problems installing the plugin with anti-virus software running? I do know that some programs won't install properly with Norton AV running.

                        regards

                        Ross

I would recommend you disable the antivirus software prior to trying a re-load. Antivirus software has a knack for gumming things up. Good luck on the install.

                          Regards,

Unfortunately disabling the antivirus software didn't help. At least my main trading computer (Win2K) still runs without problems.

Will have to wait until I can get an older version (or newer) of the eSignal plugin.

                            Any other suggestions welcomed.

                            cheers

For those having the same problem as me, you can install HyperTraders "Online Downloader" which....

...Online Downloader allows users of Omega TradeStation 2000i, TradeStation and SuperCharts 4.0, MetaStock Professional to download the history data provided by any Realtime Data Provider and to prepare it for importing into GlobalServer, Omega Server 4.0 or directly to MetaStock Database.
                              Available Datafeeds:• eSignal

                              http://www.hypertrader.it/odownloader.shtml

Its a free tool, but you do have to register it. (I do use a few of Hypetraders free tools and they work great - no strings attached)

At least it has temporarily got around the download problem, and it shows that the problem is in the eSignal Plugin as the "Online Downloader" downloads all data, no problems.

                              hope this helps.

                              cheers

                                Hi Ross,

                                Could I ask you:

                                1) Specify the exact names and settings of symbols you are trying to download.
                                2) Confirm that you can download daily data for these symbols without problems.
                                3) Post here the snapshot of your workspace while you are trying to download intraday data.

                                Thank you much,
                                Andy
