That's great. Thanks for the follow-up. If others having similar problems can download and try the same, would be helpful to know if that's the problem afflicting a handful of users here.

      Thanks.

        Hi Andy,

sorry it took so long to get back to you, but here are the details you asked for.

When day data is selected it all downloads without a problem.

When any intraday resolution is selected (either individually or with others, tick, 1 min, 5 min) the "Download Performance" window shows the staus as download complete, but no data is requested or downloaded.

          Hi Ross,

As I can see at the snapshot, you haven't set the date range. Data will not be downloaded.

          Regards,
          Andy

            Hi Andy,

I can assure you that whatever date range I set, day data downloads and intraday dose not. It dose not matter if I ask for 1 day or 30 days, intraday data dose not download.

            On my other computer (which I have been using eSignal and TradeStation since last year), if you ask for intraday data the Status collum of the "download Performance" window goes from;

            No Request
Requesting 1 Tick Data for #####
            Connected
            Download Complete.

Even if there is no data to be found on a particular day, it still follows the same process and indications, but in the "received & Processed" collums, it shows "0".

            On the computer running XP, the above is true for Day data, but for Intraday data, regardless of symbol selected or date range, it goes straight from;

            No Request,
            (to,)
            Download Complete.

At no stage is intraday data "requested" from the server.

            regards

            Ross

              Hi Ross,

Let's try from the very beggining:

              1) What version of GlobalServer do you have?
              2) What version of eSignal do you have?
              3) What version of DataManager (dbcapi.dll) do you have?
              4) Do you use Norton Antivirus or any other virus protection software?
              5) Could you please send me ([email protected]) your winros.ini and winsig.ini files from \windows folder
              7) Do you have any problems when plot intraday historical charts in eSignal.
              8) Can you receive eSignal realtime data into the GlobalServer?

              Thank you,
              Andy

                Hi Andy,

during the process of collecting the information (version/build numbers etc) that you requested, I might of found the problem, or at least it fixed my problem.

While searching for the dbcapi.dll file, I noticed that the file in the eSignal folder,

                C:\Program Files\eSignal - dbcapi.dll 317KB Build 102 03/24/04

                while the system32 folder had,

                C:\WINDOWS\system32 - dbcapi.dll 145KB 04/22/99

Thinking that this version was very very old, I renamed the file in the system32 folder to dbcali.OLD (just in case I need it again) and copied the dbcapi.dll from the eSignal folder to the system32 folder.

I then tried to download intraday data and everything worked perfectly - success......

While this fixed my problem, I don't no if it will help anyone else. Hopefully Andy can give a more informed technical answer as to if this was the reason for the download hassels.

                regards

                Ross

                  Hi Ross,

Yes, dbcapi.dll 145KB 04/22/99 is TOO old. The thing is that if you have dbcapi.dll in the system32 folder, the plugin use it first otherwise looks into the eSignal root folder. If you have any further questions or require additional assistance please reply to this thread.

                  Have a good weekend,
                  Andy

I haven't posted before, but had the same problem as Ross with no intra data downloading. My problem was also solved the same way Ross did. Thought you might like to know... :-)

                      Fanus,

Thanks for the follow-up. We're looking into how the dbcapi.dll file is being handled during install and how it may be impacting the TS2000i plug-in. It's always helpful to get word back on successful resolutions so thanks again.

                        Scott

I have had the same problems as reported elsewhee in this thread with regard to not being able to get the Trade Station 2000i plug in to work as advertised--no matter what settings I used or how many times I installed or uninstalled it or TStation. As a long time user I am thoroughly familar with both programs--both are updated to latest version etc
                        .
Changing the dbcapi.dll file as outlined in an ealier thread seems to have solved the problem. Have not tried to go back beyond a week so far but for the past few days it has worked just fine.

A Big Thanks to the author of the fix

My thanks to all of you who have posted with the results of your testing. You have helped me find a solution to my problem of downloading data into WindowsXP.

After doing a lot of different things to try to work around this problem, I got some ideas after reading the posts by stevehare2003, Ross, Fanus, and others. I had attempted to use the different versions of dbcapi.dll already in my WindowsXP computer, which had helped others, but it did not help me. Both versions must be corrupted or incompatible in one way or another.
Then I got the idea of placing the dbcapi.dll file from my WindowsME computer, which has been downloading great so far, into the C:\Program Files\eSignal and C:\Windows\System32 folders on my WindowsXP computer , and this fixed the problem.
I did some more testing, and finally concluded that the problem was in the dbcapi.dll file in my C:\Windows\System32 folder. As Andy mentioned, that must be where the plugin first looks for the dbcapi.dll file.

I have attached a copy of the dbcapi.dll file that worked for me. (I scanned it with Norton Antivirus, just to be on the safe side.) Just unzip the file and copy and paste it into your C:\Windows\System32 folder, for WindowsXP,
OR into your C:\Windows\System folder, for WindowsME.
Just make sure that you rename your ORIGINAL dbcapi.dll file beforehand(i.e. - OLDdbcapi.dll), so that you'll still have it around in case this fix doesn't help you. Do not delete it until you know for sure that you don't need it. I intend to keep my original copy around just in case of an unforeseen problem.

Hopefully this fix will work for others. I hope I have helped others as much as you guys have helped me. Thanks again.

Great troubleshooting here so thanks to all for their contributions. Let me add some more details so we can really nail this problem down.

We (eSignal) no longer load the dbcapi.dll file into the Windows directory (changed back in the version 5.xx days) so the only dbcapi.dll file we load is the one found in the eSignal sub-directory. The dbcapi.dll file gets updated fairly often so you should be seeing a current file if you are using a recent version of eSignal.

For those willing, I'd like to have a few people rename the dbcapi.dll file in their /Windows directory so it's no longer valid and then try to use TS2000i and the plug-in. Let's see if still works just fine.

Since we used to install this dll file in the Windows directory, it's possible some 3p apps coded around this file being in that specific directory. We're thinking not but we'll see as we continue to investigate.

                            Thanks.

FWIW in two of my computers there is no dbcapi.dll in the system32 directory yet TS2k and the Plugin work perfectly.
In both cases though TS2k was installed after eSignal had already been installed and - if I remember correctly - advised me during the installation routine that a Data Manager already existed and asked me if I wanted to use that copy which I accepted.
So, the issue here may be caused by situations in which TS2k was installed prior to eSignal hence it created its own copy of the Data Manager in system32. That would also explain why it is a dated version.

                                Still problems

                                Hi folks,

I studied this thread exactly and did all the proposed chages. Cleaned my registry and put in the newer version of the dbcapi into the system32 folder. I'm a XP user. But still I cannot download the history from eSignal either the intrday or the day data. I've the latest version of the plugin. So this isn't the reason, too. I chose all the options for downloading historical datat as recommende in the other threads. Maybe I got the problems, cause I wanna download FOREX data. There seem to be many starnge things to happen with TS2000i. Can anybody help me. Attached is a screenshot of the process. I think that the GS tries to connect with eSignal, but i isn't able to receive the requeted data.
                                Thx in advance
