    Brent,

    When you say:

"QuoteTrader (formerly, VisionTrader) now supports eSignal data and its Simulated Trading engine"

Does that mean that I can use QuoteTrader to sim-trade the $PLAYBACK symbol?

    Thanks.

      QuoteTrader Playback

      Hi Steve,

We're planning to support playback, yes.
The version available in now (Q4 06) supports eSignal streaming data, plus a simulated feed whose trend users control.
The final feature will be playback, so users can trade historical events - like trade last Monday's 2pm session of the Q's, or the entire period of last week/month, etc..

Let me know if you'd like a personal demo.

        eSignal data manager

        Dear Brent,
I know it's been answered elsewhere, but I just can find it...
Do i need the eSignal data manager, even if i plan to use IB datafeed, and don't need datafeed over the weekend?
        thanks, Jeff

          QuoteTrader

          Hi Jeff,

          Thank you for your post.

Yes, the datamanager is required for QuoteTrader, primarily because it's the most reliable to provide consistent support to our customers, and best way to grow the desktop products - one coming attraction being free charting we'll be releasing in QuoteTrader soon

You may have been referring to this link:

One thing to note, is that QuoteTrader's been designed to operate efficiently with the DM, [u]and optimize CPU performance[u].

We're releasing new builds of QuoteTrader every 5 - 10 business days, each build includes new features, fixes, and increased stability that rely on the most recent DM.

So if you're using a DM, uninstall it, and upgrade to this new version (download).

Then upgrade to the most recent QuoteTrader (download)!

We've started including the DM in QuoteTrader installers, so going forward, this won't be an issue for new clients.

Finally, despite IB not providing data over the weekend, it's still possible to paper trade with QuoteTrader, using either its patsystems built-in simulated feed (brief video)!

Thank you again for your post, let me know if you have any other questions!
