Depending on the broker you use, some have simulated or paper trading capabilities. You can alternatively also use the eSignal Paper Broker.

When I tried to do auto trading from my efs program to place trades in eSignal paper trading , getting the following error

couldn't connect to TWS
confirm that the TWS application is running
and "Enable ActiveX and Socket Clients" is enables on the "Settings' menu.

What do I need to do?

Hello sumi,

Your default broker is still set to IB. You need to go into the Trade-->Preferences menu and set "eSignal Paper Trade" as your default broker.
