  • eSignal/MBTrading integration

I am currently using the MBT Navigator/eSignal "integrated" solution and I am having the following issues:

    - the eSignal Quote Board keeps crashing (works fine if eSignal alone is loaded)
    - the eSignal and MBT Navigator windows (within eSignal) cannot apparently be linked
    - There are discrepancies between the bid/ask quotes displayed on the MBT Navigator FX Board and those displayed by the eSignal quote boards/charts, probably due to the fact that they are using different data feeds.
    - I can't view the MB Trading Level II FX quotes within eSignal (although this is available from MBT Navigator) - why is this missing from the integrated menu?
    - I have noticed several stability issues between in the integrated solution (see for instance the Quote Board crash) but also with MB Trading losing connectivity to its order server or struggling in loading account activity at start-up.

    I would welcome any inputs.

    Thanks,

    Trader2be

    Hi Trader2Be,
Can you give me a little more information,

Which version of eSignal are you currently using?

Which build of the MB Trading plug in are you using?

When you log into the MB Navigator are you selecting the eSignal Host?

I am using the latest version of eSignal (v10), the latest version of MBT Navigator (v11), and as far as I know there is no MBT Navigator plug-in. I indeed select the eSignal Host when launching MB Navigator.

I am having many of the same issues as trader2be. The main problems I am having:

        1) If I make just one click on the quote board, it crashes immediately. I just sent about 4 crash notifications, so hopefully that will help you. The information flow works, but I can't touch it or make any changes. I deleted the one quote board and tried to make another, but the same problem exists.

        2) Every night at 10:00pm MST, a message box pops up with a really annoying "ding" noise and the message states, "unable to connect to order server". It keeps continually trying to connect every 15 to 30 seconds and will repeat the message and ding each time. It usually goes on for an hour. What's really annoying is it happens just about all weekend as well. I don't trade at 10pm or on the weekends, but I do like to look at charts, test strategies, etc.

I assume this exists for maintenance or something?

The only workaround I have found is to close Esignal and re-open it without using MB Navigator. It woiuld be great if there was some button you could click or something to disable the program from attempting to connect, unless of course there was some way to always be connected.

I have talked to MB Trading and to Esignal Support and each one has told me they are not responsible and to call the other.

What I want to know is how the Forex traders deal with this.

        ESignal Version 10.0.0 Build 858 8/22/07
        MB Navigator 10.13.0.12

Have you come up with any solutions yet on these issues? Is this the right place for this type of post?

          Hi weezie,

Thanks for your post. Yes, this is the right place to ask these questions

Is the attached image how you're accessing the integation? First launching MB's Navigator, selecting eSignal as host. Then, once lauched, eSignal has the menu drop down in the second image?

          Thanks in advance,

          Brent

The ping-pong match between eSignal and MB Trading on this issue has been annoying. I wish that one of the companies (probably eSignal in this case) would just take 'ownership' of the problem.

The eSignal Quote board crashes consistently when loading eSignal as an MBT Navigator host. I was recently told by eSignal technical support that the quote board was 'not supported' in this integration so I assume that this is a known issue, which is hopefully on the list of bugs to resolve. If MBT Navigator windows (e.g. FX Board) were linkable to eSignal windows then this wouldn't be so much of a problem, I would just stay away from the eSignal quote board.

                Hello All,

Thanks you for the post and for your continued support of eSignal and MB Trading.

We are aware of issues with the QuoteBoard and MB Trading in the newest version of eSignal. We have brought this to the attention of the developers. It has been put in the priorities list of bug to be corrected in a future release.

With test of the MB Trading Beta version we have found that in version 8.0 and earlier version we do not see this same issue with the QuoteBoards.

Once we have more information we will post back.

                Thank you

Hi. Everything was working fairly well until I upgraded to your latest version and that of MBT Navigator which I discovered were incompatible. So at one point I did have a combination of eSignal and MBT Navigator that were compatible. But now I can't seem to get back to that working combination. So my question is which is the latest of version of eSignal which will work with some recent version of MBT Navigator? And what is that version of the Navigator? Thanks for your help. A prompt reply would be appreciated.

                    Hi Mike,

We're checking now for an ETA.

                    Thanks,

                    Brent

At the moment the best solution for you is to wait until the new
version of MB plugin will be released (we've added support of MBT API v11.0
and above). This will happen in the middle of the next week.

The fact that that his reply was deleted and replaced with your more cautious “We’re checking now for an ETA” has me worried. I don’t mind a few days off from trading. It’s healthy to step back. It helps prevent tunnel vision from developing. But with regards to your ETA I have a request and a question. Please make it as realistic an estimate as is possible in the notoriously unpredictable field of software development. I’d rather be told once that it will be ready in a month than be told four times that it will be ready in a week. Also, on MB Trading’s web site they are offering as their eSignal download eSignal_80r2.exe which I assume will work with at least one of the versions of their Navigator, hopefully the latest. My question is if it becomes necessary for me to regress back to using eSig 80r2 are there any major problems I might encounter. No need to list all the bugs you have fixed in the latest versions and so remain unfixed in 80r2. Just wondering if any special problems come to mind. Thanks.

                      Mike

That post you are talking about was a result of mistake. I was mentioning some other problem so I deleted the post as soon as I had found a mistake.

                              Hi Mike,
We're still working on a fix for mb Navigator 11, If you would like I do have a copy of the MB Navigator 10 which I know works with eSignal 10. You can revert to this until we can the proper fix in place for version 11. If you would like the older version Please PM me you email address and I'll forward over Navigator 10.
