  • QuoteTrader and Excel

    Hi,

a few weeks ago I installed QuoteTrader and deinstalled it again.

Unfortunately it has corrupted my Excel installation for the user I used to install it. Every time I start Excel I have to click away about a dozen error messages "Unknown error", "System error". Then something about a compilation error in "ThisWorkBook".

Looks like QuoteTrader installed a hidden and password-protected macro? How do I get rid of it?

    Many Thanks

    Hi Bernd.

Which version of QT did you install?

      Hi,

I'm not sure about the version, I used the install file "QuoteTrader1019.exe" from November 2007.

        Hi Bernd.

Could we arrange a WebEx meeting where I'll have a chance to see what's happend after the uninstallation with my own eyes?

        Thanks.

          Hi,

that's going to be difficult. I'm running eSignal from 7:30 till 22:15 CET and after that I'm pretty tired, though I don't monitor the market all the time.

Besides I'm using a restricted user account which will be no good for the WebEx session.

I think I'll ask for tips in an Excel forum and if that does not help I'll try to de- and reinstall Excel.

          Many Thanks

          Bernd Kuerbs

OK, I posted my problem in the newsgroup microsoft.public.excel.programming and got some useful hints from this website: http://www.cpearson.com/excel/StartupErrors.aspx

I disabled all add-ins and then enabled one after the other. An add-in called "Eurowährungstool" (Eurocurrencytool) caused the problems.

Since I installed this add-in long before QuoteTrader I can only assume that the QuoteTrader de-installation somehow corrupted it. Or left some code which cannot coexist with this tool.

Anyway, I disabled it and working with Excel seems to be back to normal.

              Regards

Thanks for the information. Actually we no longer supply the Excel toolbar which seemed to cause your problem. But anyway, thanks.
