Dummy symbol

Is it possible to implement some dummy symbol so that the user use the "trades" of such dummy symbol as timer? For example, the user may specify esignal to locally generate fake trades at the frequency of one per second, etc., which is very useful when using third party dll or IB plugin to do automatic trading. In the current design, the trigger of main() totally relies on the new incoming quotes. If these is no new trades, efs could not be executed.

For automated trading purposes with a dll, what is the reason or type of routine that you need to execute on a timer type interval? Please explain the logic so that I can have a clearer understanding of the requirement.
