  • Symbol Tick (pip) values

New to eSignal's forex, subscribing this morning. Finding symbols, displaying chart etc no problem, however unable to find where I assign a tick or pip value to a symbol for paper trading. Paper trader shows trade, number of ticks ahead/behind, but no value.

Appreciate any help. Also, with 4 decimals, is it $10 per pip?

    Thanks

    Merv

Was told by support that I had to ask this question in this forum, as eSignal had people especially trained to answer questions on this subject here. Where are you? Would appreciate an answer to my question.

      Merv,

With the eSignal Paper Trading and all the Trading Integration you do not set the pips the application does. Once in the trade the Open P/L should display your profit or losses as it does the screenshot below.

If you having a specific issue please explain it and I'll do what I can to assist in a resolution. Screenshots are always welcome in getting visual understanding of the problem.

        Avery, thanks for your help.

Have attempted to insert 2 images. My problem is both with the display on the chart as in your image, as well as the Account Manager display. If the image is displayed, then you will see that the trade is 5 ticks in arrears, however the Total P/L column is still zero.

With the Generic Broker, in Trade/ Paper Trading Default/Order Defaults, if you create a code, then you have the ability to enter tick values, however there is no facility to edit an existing code.

I appreciate any assistance you can give me.

        Merv

Hey guys, eSignal's on-line support tells me to seek help here, but no one seems too interested. I am paying good money for a service I can't use.

Is this where I should be getting support for this problem?
If so, is anyone helping me?
If not, then why would support tell me it was?
and if not, then where should I seek assistance?

            The silence is deafening.

            Cheers

              Merkro,

I'm sorry I thought had posted to this once I received the screenshots. I guess I didn't wait long enough to make sure my response posted.

The reason that you're not seeing any value for the open P/L is that you need to increase your lot size. In eSignal paper trading 1 means 1, not a lot of 10,000.

If you increase the quantity you should be fine.

Thank you Avery. Knew it would be something simple. I can now continue on. I used 1 because that is $10 a pip on 2 brokers I trade with using a different platform. Not going to even wonder why I need 10000 here, just so long as I can consolidate my trading on one platform.

                Thanks for your help.

Glad I could be of assistance, sorry I didn't get the post up sooner.

As you start trading with a broker you'll see that the lot size is more consistant. With paper trading they want you to understand the different lot sizes (micro and minis).
