mapping similar symbols to the same futures contract in IB

Is this possible? I can't seem to make it work.
i.e. mapping GC M1 and GC M1=1 to the same IB gold contract.

This logic is not possible with the symbol mapping. Once the symbol for IB has been assigned it cannot be used agian until it's deleted or re-assigned.
