  • Backtesting software

I'm looking to do some backtesting with some ideas that I have.

It concerns the behaviour of a stock subsequent to its previous day's behaviour.

Can anyone recommend some software that will allow me to do this effectively?

    Thanks.

Have you tried using EFS and the Back Tester that eSignal provides with its software?

OK, so is there any way that I can test this software?

Should I look through the EFS studies? Perhaps what I'm looking for has already been created.

I think what I'm ultimately asking is if I'm looking for software that can do backtesting on stocks, is eSignal the best one to use? Are there any other varieties?

It's just that learning EFS script seems to be slightly daunting.

You may want to read through the section of the eSignal KnowledgeBase that is dedicated to the Back Testing module provided with eSignal.
Click here then select EFS KnowledgeBase-> Help Guides-> Strategy Analyzer Report and you will find 4 links to various topics regarding Back Testing. I would suggest starting with Introductory Guide to Back Testing and Strategy Analyzer
