  • Does Day-Trading account requirements apply to E-Minis?

Does the $25,000 minimum account balance rule apply to trading the E-Mini futures contracts as well? (more than 4 day trades per week)

I was hoping, of course, that since these are regulated by another entity, the balance rule might not apply.

    Dan,

No, it does not. However, trading the emini has a great potential to suck down your equity very, very fast. On a per contract basis, you are looking at roughly $3500 in equity per contract, to allow for drawdown, you should have at least $5000 per contract.

      re: eminis

I don't know, I like trading the emini's, the main thing is with that much volitility you can't ever take your eye off the ball. But honestly that should be the case for all but the slowest moving of contracts. Even if you are chasing a long move when you are putting a position on you have to watch it every second until it gives you some breathing room by moving (profitably) past your entry point. That's true also if it starts to retest, the main thing is to not get shreaded.
