Can somebody please help me finding the FTSE 100 INDEX (^FTSE) in Yahoo - FTSE - Financial Time UK cash index. I have the $CAC and the $DAXI but cannot find the FTSE.
The symbol is $UKX-FTSE. It's under FTSE Indicies on this page of our Symbol Look-up ( albeit buried in a long list ).
You will need to subscribe to FTSE Index Values ( click on the European/African Region on that page ) in case that's not already active on your account. You can add it yourself using Account Maintenance.
We are working towards a searchable symbol look-up engine for next year so that should greatly help find symbols among our 600,000 ( and growing! ) database of syms.
I am not subscribed to the FTSE Index Values or any other Europian indexes. Still, I can receive the DAX and CAC. So in order to receive the FTSE cash that I only need I must to subscribe to the FTSE Index Values???
Yes, you have that correct. We get authorization from some exchanges to redistribute their indices for free. Others do not give us free access and require individual users to sign-up and pay for that access. Most, if not all, of the US indices we provide are available at no extra charge. We also provide a few international indices, like $CAC and $DAXI, but most of the International Indices are tied to an exchange fee.
If interested, we also have a World Indices Bundle. Although most symbols in this bundle don't update in realtime, they will provide a global perspective on the key world markets. Here's more information on the World Indices bundle.
Another option to consider is subscribing to the European Bundle of exchanges on a delayed basis. It's just $10/mo. Pricing on all the bundles can be found here and again, this bundle can be added via Account Maintenance.
One last item. The exchanges often differentiate between a snapshot quote (like you'd get from a web site like Yahoo) and a streaming quote (like we provide). Snapshots are less valued and hence might be available for free while the same symbol updating on a streaming basis would not be.
