  • Volume Explanation

    Hello All,

I did a search on cbs marketwatch for stocks with a current trading volume between 1000000 and 10000000 shares.

Yahoo showed up with 7,161,603 shares. Now, is that figure based on the number of shares traded in the day, week. month? When I chart yhoo in esignal to assess the volume I can't determine how the 7,161,603 is arrived.

    Can you help?

    Thanks

    Carlton

    Hello,

I just found out that its based on the daily volume.

I do have another question though.

I intend to trade in the 5min interval. I understand that daytraders should trade in the volume range of 500,000 to 1m shares. Does that figure apply to any interval? If not, can someone please recommend the volume range for the 5min chart.

    Appreciate it

    Cheers

    Carlton

There are lots of EOD scanners out there on free sites (CNBC, Hoovers, etc ) but if you want a scanner for high volume stocks in realtime, you should take a look at the eSignal Market Scanner. You can sign-up for a free 30 day trial and test it out for yourself.

        Thanks.
