us sector indices

I really need some help here i'm looking for the tickers for differnt us stock indices for example electronic wholesale goods , restarants, management services, biotechnology, oil and gas refining mrktng,resorts and casinos etcc.....
with their constituent stocks so just like you have the $indu for the dji and the 30 constituent stocks so too i would like tickers for the indices i mentioned and others .Basically what i want to look at is the market as a whole based on individual sectors their indices and the constituent stocks.
However i'm not looking for the major indices eg $prem $tran and the like what i want is individual sector indices and their component stocks

I'd really appreciate all the help you folks can give

ps i dio realise there would probably be something like 200 individual indices or something like that - i've tried looking on the symbol listings in esignal but couldnt make much use of it . so i'd really apprecIATE ALL THE HELP

You may want to look at the Traders Toolbox on eSignal Central. More specifically, I believe you are looking for the Industry Sector Indexes and the Industry Groups. Hope this helps.

thx duane the problem i am faces wiht though is not knowing exactly what the constituent stocks for which the index is representing for eg from esignal the dj us semiconductors index is $djussc now as you know theres also the $sox whixh is the semiconductor index eventhough they have similar charts i need to know what their exact constituents are since there are slight differences on the charts which can make the difference in taking or not taking atrade

Good question. Have you tried going to the exchange web sites for that information? Often times it is given there.
I will do what I can later today for at least some, but you might have better luck looking up the exchange and trying to find more specific sector index details at the exchange web sites.

Hi Silver,

By clicking on the Company Name in the Industry Indexes, it should display the constituents of that index. As an example, I have enclosed an example of the NASDAQ Banking Index. This should encompass the complete list of stocks that make up that index. Hope this helps.

I think he is looking for this kind of information for the obscure sector indicies,
not just the most popular sector indicies. That is where it can be a
time consuming challenge.

I generated that list by clicking on the Company Name on the Industry Indexes page.



As far as the indexes you mentioned are concerned, these may be best retrieved through the CBOT. They look to be exclusively rendered by them.

Hi Silver,

Here is how to navigate to that page. eSignal Central > Traders Toolbox > Market Data > Industry Sector Indexes. As far as the information I came across from the CBOT, click here. There are four portions of this table; BlueChip, Benchmark, Specialty, and Custom. Most of the indexes have a components link which breaks down the constituents of the index. Some of the symbols you listed are in this table....most are not. I think contacting DJ Indexes may be a good source of info as far as determining the components. Here is their contact information. where they give the components, details related to DJ symbols.

It may take you a little experimenting, but this could
be what you are searching for.
