  • Delays Euronext - Update

    All,

    1) The delays we have seen on Friday the 20th of July were due to unexpected problems at one of our ticker plants. Once the engineers switched the connection, the data resumed to broadcast in real time. Technical difficulties like the one seen on Friday are very unlikely occurrences, and engineers are always keen to further improve reliability.

    2) Unlikely delays seen during the month of July were related to memory issues on servers, but I’ll avoid going into detailed technical issues not having the necessary understanding of software architecture. What I can confidently say though is that all the affected servers were upgraded by the 19th of July.

    3) The delays seen yesterday afternoon and today were due to issues on the exchange feed. Euronext disseminates data through 3 different feeds. Data providers are generally connected to the feed LMF2 which in this case experienced the delay. Others instead might be connected to 2 different feeds and not see the delay. This morning instead the LFM2 feed from the exchange went down for 13 minutes. It is unfortunate that we are connected to LFM2. Every other data vendor connected to this feed will have experienced this issue. Latest information from the Euronext says though that EMDS (a second channel for real time data) is experiencing delays too.

    4) This morning instead the LFM2 feed from the exchange went down for 13 minutes.

Euronext's engineers are making all possible efforts to find a solution to the current delays which will affect all data vendors connected to LMF2. We strongly hope that the problem will be solved quickly and are continuously in contact with the exchange for updates.

    Euronext delays

We are continuing to see some delays on Euronext data, including for example the FTSE future contract.

The route cause of the problem is the Euronext Exchange data vendor feed (LMF2), and we are working closely with the Exchange on a resolution.

The delays are sporadic and seem to be, at least in part, caused by recent sharp spikes in trading volumes.

    We apologise for the inconvenience.

We met with the Euronext Exchange again today. They are in turn working very hard to resolve this issue, and will advise us of their progress.

Please note that the delays are in no way due to eSignal's network infrastructure. That said, we understand the importance of accurate and timely data and regret this situation.

During times of high activity, please be informed that there may be future data lags.

A change was made at the beginning of this week which should have improved the situation. Immediate user feedback does seem to confirm this.

We continue to strive towards an absolute and complete fix, and will update this threat when that has been achieved.

        Thanks

The sporadic delays on the Euronext feed experienced last month should now be firmly behind us.

          Thank you for your patience.
