  • Symbol w/ma efs data question

I have an efs that plots a symbol along with its ma as an efs. Alex was so kind as to help me with it some time ago. I have a question on it though. Seems like the charts will only load a limited amount of data for this efs. It seems to vary by the time period, and I have not been able to determine that a certain number of bars is the determining factor. So for you wizards out there, what is limiting the amount of data loaded/displayed by the efs, and what would I do to change it?

    Here is the efs.

I will post a picture of the problem in the next post.

Here is a picture showing how the efs only loads a limited amount of data.

What are the symbols used in the various indicator windows?
As far as I can see at my end the only limiting factor seems to be how much data is available for a symbol.

Rather than using a Dynamic Time Template set a fixed number of Days and see if that changes anything

The Symbols for the efs windows are from top to bottom: INTC, AMAT, TXN, BRCM.

Seems like there should be plenty of data for these symbols.

FWIW here is the same chart as before but with INTC as the symbol in the efs.

If I change to a template with a fixed number of days, then more data loads.

Alex, does the picture you posted use a fixed number of days template or a dynamic one?

Fixed number of days (20 to be exact). As a general rule I always use charts with a preset number of days/bars loaded rather than setting them to Dynamic

Do you or any one else have any idea why the Dynamic mode causes less data to be loaded on this type of efs than a fixed number of days?

What are other advantages of a fixed number of days or bars? Do charts load faster, etc?

Seems like fixed number of bars would be more useful as you could have one template that would work on multiple time frames using bars. (i.e you might want 100 days worth of daily data but you probably don't want 100 days of 1 min data)

That is exactly what the Time Template can do. In the image below you can see that for every listed interval I load a different number of Days/Bars.

                      Thanks Alex, as usual.
