I believe the "two little boxes" you are referring to are the Cursor Window and the Snapshot Window.
There are two icons on the Main Toolbar that switch them on and off. There are also relative menu items under Chart Options (see Cursor and Snapshot).

As far as how many bars are shown in the daily view that depends on a number of factors.
First of all unlike the regular charts you can scroll backwards with Advanced Charts.
Second how many bars are loaded in an Advanced Chart is dependant on the Time Templates. To see the Time Templates right click on the AdvChart and select Time Template->Edit...
If there is no specific Time Template for the Daily interval then it is set as Dynamic which means that the program will request enough bars to give you a screenful. Scrolling backwards will create new requests of backdata (up to 10 years on Daily).
However, you can also have the Time Template load a specific number of Days or Bars for any specific interval.
I don't have the links handy at this time but there are a number of Help documents at eSignalCentral that explain the Time Templates.

BTW you can add indicators (although not as many and/or as advanced) also on the regular Charts.

If you need any further information feel free to ask.

    thanks bob & alexis!

ok. i got another questions about charts here. I got a couple of
questions for the "advanced charts" vs. just the basic charts.

In the advanced charts, how do you turn off the two little boxes
that show o,h,l,c, etc. i tried going under properties and i can't
    seem to turn it off.

The other thing is in the adv. charts you can add all these
indicators and click on the daily view. But the daily view doesn't
go back one year. Whereas in the normal or basic chart you can make
it go back 1yr, but you can't add all these indicators.

so, does one get one year of daily data view with all indicators you
    want on it?

    thanks!

    regards,

If I remember correctly some of the earlier builds only allowed to enter a maximum of 60 in the # Days box.
Later builds (cannot remember from which one) allow for a higher number.
If that is the case then put a check in the Bars radio button (instead of Days) as a substitute and consider an approximate 220-250 bars/year on a Daily chart.
In the attached image you can see IBM price of 10 years ago (notice the date on the Time axis). This was obtained requesting 2500 bars in the Time Template.

        montenegro,

i have the latest version of esignal "esig 2 release candidate"

checking daily box allows to go back max. 60 days when scrolling ,if typing into the field 500 it goes back to 1. febr. 1990

setting 20000 bars back on 5 min chart shows only 3 month back ( 30.10. 2002)

so max. to go back on 5 min is 3 month.
this is not enough for backtesting, hope there will be some solution to test back further.

        thx eses

Are you talking about daily charts or intraday charts?
If daily then eSignal's data for US securities usually goes back 10 years (depending on the security of course).
If intraday then eSignal has 60 days of data, but that is about to be raised to 1 year and then incremented in the course of time to a maximum of 2 years.

            montenegro,

its ok now, get daily data back to 1990 when typing it into the daily box.( with scrolling only 60 days appear)

also good news that the intraday data will be raised.

            thanks for your help.

Do you know when will be intraday data raised to 1 year.

This is a must for backtesting.

I don't believe I have seen any fixed date given by eSignal, but I recall
some messages on the subject that suggested sometime in the first quarter of
this year. Having said this, you might want an official confirmation from
                eSignal.

                  Hi All,

While we are working towards adding one year of intraday data, we have not yet set a date as to when this will be made available. I do look for it to happen sometime this coming year.

                  Regards,
                  Andy S.
