As a matter of fact I can use both QLink and SigTools in the same sheet (see enclosed screenshot)
I too am stumped as to why it is not working at your end because I am unable to replicate the problem you, Tom and Carol are seeing

I've put the sample XLA here, there, and everywhere. Used the "new sample" XLS. No joy.

    Hummm...I just dunno whazzup.

      Thanks, Alex.

That's interesting, both filling the same sheet.
I tried that in reverse, first filling with QLink, then creating a matrix and using Fill Matrix.
But from the getgo, the SigTools macro just can't recognize the DM is running.

      I'm running Excel 2000, fwiw.

Also, a thingy that seems off is that when I start Excel, the QLink toolbar is there, but not SigTools. I have to "reapply" the XLA after each start of Excel. So something's up there.

      Oh well, another unsolved mystery.

I tried adding an eSignl DDE link to the QLink Sample file and that appears to be working also (note however that opening the QLink Sample file did not add the SigTools toolbar so I just inserted the link manually)

I also tried creating an array with QLink in a new worksheet and then manually adding a DDE link to winros and also this worked.

At my end I am running Excel 2002 (ie Office XP)
FWIW also I get the QLink toolbar (but not the SigTools toolbar) when starting Excel. The SigTools toolbar appears to be available only when using the Excel Sample file

          Alex,

Thanks for that info regarding manually entering links.

I uninstalled QLink..(not that that matters to this test)
          Started eSignal 10 DM
          Started Excel

And proceded to manually enter DDE commands.
          Success. See attached screenshot.

To be continued when I have time.
Gotta go out and about for awhile now.

Thanks again for the time and efforts with your feedback.

            Alex,

Where did the QLink Install put your QLink folder?
There is no path selection option in QLink install.
My install sticks the QLink folder inside QCharts 6.0.2.

Now I gotta go out and about.

            Thanks,

The fact that it now works for you after having uninstalled QLink could matter if reinstalling it will prevent the eSignal DDE to work when you input the links manually.
The other thing to try is if the Excel Sample is working after having uninstalled QLink.

On all my computers the QLink folder is installed in the eSignal folder.
I am not sure what determines where QLink gets installed. My guess would be that it depends on the path statement in winros.ini (which is in the Windows directory). In my winros.ini this is set to C:\Program Files\eSignal

                  Hey Alex,

I have all the stuff working together as you demonstrated. See screenshot.
QLink toolbar (QLink in QCharts 6.0.2 folder. Yep, winros.INI path is 6.0.2)
                  SigTools toolbar with sample XLA.

However, this only works if my DM is logged in with my eSignal account ID/PW.

The "can't find DM" conditions previously posted on manifests if I'm logged in with either QCTEST account ID or my QCharts account ID. This was subtle finding since I can run eSignal 10 with QCTEST ID, which was the state with previous reports. I didn't mention that on the first simple "manual" success that the login was my eSignal account ID.

So, I'm guessing that perhaps, what with you being a super moderator and all that, that you can run QCharts 6.0 and eSignal concurrently with a single account other than QCTEST. I can't run QCharts 6.0 and eSignal concurrently except with QCTEST ID. Wow, I just had a very very strong Deja Vu. We've been here before.

So, for me, and I think Carol and Tom and others, the eSignal DDE isn't possible for a "QCharts" customer. Not that DDE would be preferred to QLink anyhow since the eSignal DDE function is so limited in what it can do.

That is indeed the case. In fact I run QCharts 6.x and eSignal using the same eSignal account

I agree. QLink is a far better [and preferable] product

Sounds like I should not even try to get SigTools and winros working as a dde server and just rely on QLink? QLink works so that sounds fine to me.

Question: Can QLink plot options (e.g. NDY DF)? If so, how are these entered in QLink? I cannot even get Daily bars. I would love to get T&S and intraday bars if possible on options.

                        Thanks,
                        Tom

Try using the 'long form' option symbol ie IBM APR115C rather than the 'short form' ie IBM DC
See this article in the eSignal KnowledgeBase for information on eSignal's symbol formats.
You may also want to review this article in the KB on options data in eSignal

Thanks Alex, that works. Also thanks for the citation. I didn't really expect to get intraday options bars or T&S for options because we can't really see those in QCharts anyway. (Hope this is being worked on though!)

How does one format an option for an index in this case for $NDX? For example if I am trying to see bars for April $NDX 1775 calls what symbol should I use in QLink?

Also, is there any way in QLink to see only trades on the Tick view? Can I select only Ticks that have a type of "trd" for example? As I understand the system will display trades as they happen but the servers will not store those ticks.

                            Thanks again Alex,

You can build the long format by using the root symbol (in the case of your example NDY - you can find the root in the Option Montage) and then adding the month, strike price and C (for Call) or P (for Put) eg NDY APR1775C
                              Alex
