  • DDE User? Come Try Out eSignal QLink!

We've been working on an enhancement to the existing DDE technology for eSignal, and have come to a point where we'd like some further feedback from existing DDE users.

As you may have heard back in 2006, we acquired Quote.com, and we have been working on bringing some of the best parts of that company into the eSignal family. As part of that integration, we've taken the DDE tool, QLink, and have repurposed it to use eSignal data. In addition, we've expanded its functionality to include a new toolbar in Excel to make it easy to make a request for Snapshot, Bar or Time & Sales data as seen below.

One of the great features for eSignal users will be having historical data updated dynamically in Excel. You can also grab historical Time & Sales data, and even watch it flow in real-time in your Excel spreadsheet!

To join in on the eSignal QLink Beta test:

    1. Download eSignal QLink Beta
    2. Launch the installer and follow the instructions therein
    3. Launch the QLink application via Start --> Programs --> eSignal --> QLink --> QLink
    4. Launch an Excel spreadsheet or the QLink Sample (from the QLink Start Menu)

The syntax to make a DDE connection to eSignal can be found in the QLink Help.pdf file, which can be found either on the QLink Toolbar or in the Start Menu. To take advantage of the toolbars, select an area in Excel and then click on one of the Request icons on the QLink toolbar.

If you do have any feedback for us, please post it in [http://forum.esignalcentral.com/foru...?s=&forumid=57]this forum[/url] or send your feedback to us directly.

Thanks for trying out eSignal QLink!
    Regards,
    Jay F.

We have a new version of the new eSignal QLink beta and have fixed a number of issues with it. Download the latest version, and let us know what you think!

    Download eSignal QLink Beta 2

    New Fixes/Features
    - The toolbar should now work ok for Office 2000 and XP users
    - New documentation has been added included further screenshots, tutorials and examples.
    - Bar requests now fill from the bottom up as they did in the original QLink. If you wish them to fill from the top down, use the REVERSE toggle
    - Multiple symbols can now be entered into a Snapshot Request via comma separated values (IBM,AAPL,INTC,XYZ...)
    - A new field has been added to support the Last/Extended Hours data
    - Net % should now be calculated correctly
    - Two new functions have been added to each request dialog. Previous Request will take you to the last request that was made in that window, while Next Request will take you forward (assuming you've already gone back in the request history.)

Just as a reminder if you do have any feedback for us, please post it in this forum or send your feedback to us directly.

Thanks for trying out eSignal QLink!

We have a final release candidate that we believe will be the gold release for eSignal QLink. Please update your existing QLink applications.

        Download eSignal QLink (RC2)

        New Fixes/Features:
        - Improved the installer to speed up the installation process and make it more efficient; the installer is also now digitally signed by eSignal.
        - The QLink Request Windows have been enhanced to choose the order in which the qualifiers will be displayed within the spreadsheet
        - The Snapshot Request window's symbol field has been expanded to 2000 characters to allow for a larger symbol set to be entered.
        - QLink no longer crashes when closing the symbol window in the Snapshot Request window.

eSignal QLink users, please update your versions with the below installer. As before feedback, can be sent in directly or posted to this forum.

          Download eSignal QLink (RC3)

Here's an updated version with a great new enhancement. We're not ready to "go Gold" at this point as there are still some server upgrades that need to go out the door before eSignal QLink will be 100% ready, but we felt this new feature is worth releasing for some additional testing.

            Intelligent Array Selection
QLink now intelligently determines the size of array based on a specific request. A user now only needs to select a starting cell, and QLink will automatically select the area to fill in. If the area to be filled in already contains data, a warning message is provided with various options to choose from.

            Bug Fixes
There have also been a host of various fixes that have been applied.

            Download eSignal QLink (RC4)
            Regards,
            Jay F.

In anticipation of eSignal QLink's official release this week, we are closing the QLink Beta testing program until a future development cycle of the product has once again begun.

Feel free to continue to post in this forum for suggestions about QLink and what you would like to see us look into for future development.
