    Hi Jay,
Great! Many thanks for doing the MA.

Couple of things - I've plotted the new indicator in a 1 min YM chart and refreshed the data but historically (yesterday for example) it still shows a premium where none occured.

You say not to use it on Tick charts but, TBH, it only really works on Tick charts... If I could plot the indicator and see it against the Ticks historically, that would be brilliant!

Also, changing the MA (in Tick charts) changes the indicator display somehow. Not a major problem as when the new ticks arrive in RT everything goes back to nromal. Some clever coding in that thar indicator!

    Thanks.

This is likely because your Time Template has not been set to regular market hours. Since the $INDU has no data during YM #F's night session, the EFS engine starts pulling data from the previous day instead of using the close. If you need help with setting up a Time Template, there is a FAQ here.

I'm doubtful if this can be done with the current EFS engine, but I'll ask JasonK (our EFS specialist) to see if he has any ideas. If anyone else has any ideas, please feel free to pop in your comments!

What changes in the indicator display? Could you grab a screenshot of what you are seeing?

        Hi Jay,

Okay. I've messed with the Time Template and set it to 14:30-21:15 (I'm in the UK) and two days. Still not sure if it's working as there's still a blip yesterday but we'll see.

I'd be great to get the Tick charts working correctly. I'll watch this space...

I attach a couple of screen shots (I hope) which should show the problem. I plotted the indicator twice and you can see from the first shot that the two displays are identical. Then I changed the MA in the second and you can see that this changed *both* displays. As the Ticks arrive in RT the display "grows" back to normal. I hope this is clear.

Couldn't post two images together (how do you do that?).

          Here's the second.

This does fall in line with how the EFS engine works with Tick Charts that use more then one symbol, and relates to the "sliding data" effect. The formula itself seems to be working fine from what I can tell.

Regarding posting more then one image, this is done by uploading the image to a location on internet, and then referencing to that image using the "IMG" button (above the Your Reply section.) I personally use eSignal FileShare to publish my images as its nice and convenient to have everything in one place.

              Hi Jay,

I've received the following from a broker:

"The eSignal chart code is: YM M3 - $INDU,1

Although the chart is depicted as a one-minute tic chart, the real time instantaneous spread calculation is located on the right hand side of the chart. You will notice the spread prices going up and down in a highlighted bar."

I don't underestand this, particularly the "chart code" thing. eSignal doesn't accept "YM M3 - $INDU,1" as a symbol. Or am I missing something?

He's a bit slow to reply sometimes so I thought I'd run it past you to see it it makes sense.

Try without the space after the - (minus) sign
                YM M3 -$INDU

                  Hi Alex,

Try without the space aftere the - (minus) sign YM M3 -$INDU

I've tried it as you suggest and with no spaces at all but I still get an "Invalid Symbol" error. This is on Advanced charts using eSignal 7.3 Beta Build 582.

Well at least the broker's not talking a load of welly :-)

But I still can't get it to work. Any idea what might be happening?

I have entered "YM M3 -$INDU,D" (without quotes) in the Symbol box.

Try removing the ,D from the symbol

What happens with just YM M3?

                              Wroks fine. As does $INDU.

At first I was stumped, and then looked at your screenshot again. Instead of typing the symbol into the box in the upper left, please click on the chart you want the symbol to "go into", and then start typing YM M3 -$INDU

                                Voila!
