  • Bob,
Somehow, this is not making a change for me. I renamed the existing file to SERVERS-OLD-100107.txt and inserted your file into Servers.txt. And, the Router List has not increased.

Any other ideas on how to correct this?
    Thanks,
    Carol

    • Carol.

You had allready made the change to the Miami servers so you would see no difference. We do not have access to thr Ping and Select IP's so the Miami server will all be reported wrong.

I suggest you use Quick Select.

      • Thanks, Bob -
Going to Quick Select, I was able to put Miami back in play. This is helpful because I don't see as much Savis servers going there as I do going to SC. Going to SC is typically a round trip 4X longer than Miami; and Savis usually has 50% packet losses along the way.

        Thanks again,
        Carol

        • The Intraday charts for ENR reflect a $2000 spike on 8/14/07. I've changed servers and see this on mia18, mia6, cc06-08.

          Please correct.

          Thanks,

          • Splits for TISI and KHD do not show up in 5.1

            Hi Jay,

The splits for KHD and TISI are not showing up in my 5.1. In the Qcharts directory (as chosen from the Help | View Qcharts Directory - C:\Program Files\Quote.com), the CorpActs.inf shows TISI a 2/1 on 20070830 and KHD a 2/1 on 20070910. The CorpActs.UNF file in that directory does not have it.

QFAI runs Qcharts.exe from C:\Program Files\Quote.com\QCharts 5.1 (I know, this is looking a little screwy), the CorpActs.inf has the same entries as described above.

I just noticed I have the same situation with SLP.

Qcharts 6 does not have this problem.

            What am I doing wrong?

            Jim

            • grunewaj,

I think you need to re setuo QFAI and put it in it's own folder. All QCharts 5 Applications must be called from QFAI in order to get them to use the advantages of QFAI. First, install QFAI then probably the easiest way to get the desired QCharts names associated with the particular QCharts Application is to use notepad and create/edit a file in the QFAI folder named QF-Apps.txt. Each line is separated into two parts separated by a ",". The first part of the line is what you want the QCharts called in QFAI and the second part is the complete path to the particular QCharts Application desired. See the GIF below.

The QFAI Installer can be found at :http://www.qcsoftwarehelp.com

Then just select "Download the QFAI Installer" and install QFAI. You will still have to select Refresh IP Addresses from the main QFAI Setup Menu since the Miami server name changes have not yet been included into the Installer.

                • I took a double check on my 5.1 and I'm seeing the same thing. One minute charts stopped painting at 14:14 - tried a couple of miami and sc servers both.

                  • Weekly and Daily Charts and snapshot bar for UPS today (10/4/2007) are showing a high of 78.60. Intraday charts show a high of 75.80.

Checked Miami 01 server only. Using QC 5.1.0.21

Can you guys fix today's price?

Carol. I want to clear things up. I asssumed that you had not renmed your Miami servers which you had so Ping and and Select should have worked as normal. Some ISP's put limitations on ping to limit it a prevent Denial of Servive attacks. If this is the case, as it is with me Ping and Select plus PingPloter and other programs that use frquent Pings are useless or at least degraded. You may be under the same kind of a problem.

                      • Bob,

Actually, I had renamed my miami servers and they still were not showing up as available in QFAI or when I tried ctrl+alt+n to change servers. Then, I did a copy/paste from your post of servers and put that into my SERVERS.txt file in QFAI and tried Ping & Select and it still would not make miami available. Next, I tried Quick Select and it gave me the fly out window with all the servers listed. All the SC servers had the radio button selected and none of the miami servers were selected so I selected all of them and now I can get to miami as well as SC. I will admit this is past my understanding - I just know it worked for me (& I shared with another trader who had the same experience and this solved it). Anyway, it worked and so I just kept moving forward. I talked with Bill Wednesday night - clearly he understands the workings of QFAI much better than I do and he said it wasn't supposed to work that way - from my limited understanding - I get it that it shouldn't, but it did. It is a mystery to me.

Thanks for the input on Ping Plotter. Reading your info, now it makes sense (their limitations) because there are times my Ping Plotter is showing 100% packet losses and yet QC still runs ok. And, there are other times I'm seeing 0% (zero) packet losses and QC will be locked up or delayed candles - like yesterday afternoon just after 2pm when candles didn't paint for about 15 minutes - my Ping Plotter was showing a clear and free path.

Thanks again for all your help

                          Carol,

The way Ping & Select is supposed to work is that you select a server and then click the Run QFAI-App button. Also, in the Dynastore's QFeed Server Selector Starting Options I check AutoUpdateServerList=FALSE ...... My experience using this method gets the desired server.

                          • Where did it go????

I've had some health problems recently so I'm not spending a alot of time at my computer. A couple of hours ago I selected CKSW to look at and it was fine in QC6. When I came back later I had all time charts blank per the following GIF. Switching to another symbol and back again returned the display to normal.

                              • QFAI and splits

                                Hi Bob and Jay,

Sorry I didn't get back to you till now (see your reply to my post several days ago).

QFAI is set up in its own folder (it is a vanilla install) and I start Qcharts 5.1 with it.

My Qcharts installations might be a little different. I have a Quote.com directory under the Program Files directory. I have a few versions of Qcharts under Quote.com, each in their own directory, of course. It is the Quote.com directory that Qcharts shows me when I do Help | View Qcharts Directory in spite of the fact that it is run out of the Quote.com\Qcharts 5.1 according to the QF-Apps.txt file.

In any event, the CorpActs.inf file in the Quote.com directory has an entry for the TISI and MTW. The CorpActs.UNF file in the Quote.com\Qcharts 5.1 directory also has entries for both of those stocks, and my charts still don't show the split.

I have not worried about the problem of the miami servers since other than the somewhat annoying display that shows they are unavailable, I can get into Qcharts just fine and choosing miami 5 once I'm in works fine for me.

Any help win the splits problem would be greatly appreciated.

                                Thanks,

                                Jim
